I am in the process of renewing my bike insurance. I am finding that despite being on sale for a good 9 months now, only e-bike will give me a quote for a V4 Factory!!Shocked The V4 does not even appear on most websites.

This is despite no convictions, 10 years plus NCB, over 20 years of riding and garaged!!Angry What more do these guys want, blood? From the excuses I have heard, it is not me nor the area, it is the bike. Soon, I might as well stick it on the wall and add it to the home contents policy.

I have nothing against e-bike (been with them for the past 7 years, no one else came close) and have given me a good quote,Clap but would like some choice just to know where I stand. Anyone else had any joy with any other insurer or is it the same for the others?Dead

Nope - I'm with ebike too although i think i will explore track day insurance as mine will no longer be going on the road.
Any one got any ideas who might insure a track only, garaged bike??

No, but when you find out Bill, let us know, I'm in same boat with my Mille.
I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory.

When I was looking to insure my v4 last year I got told by a number of insurers that they do not insure bikes with a value above £10k, they'll soon be out of business with the price rises that new bikes have incurred.  I'm insured with E Express which is usually a Suzuki special insurance co and no one could touch them on price.

I just insured mine today through MCE, im sure it was royal sun alliance. My present lot 'Bikesure' wouldn't insure me because of the bikes cost so in the process of cancelling that one.
cost me £750 including GAP insurance thought that was a bloody good price!!

Was with Carole Nash - got confused with renewal date and missed by 2 days. They said sorry sir but we treat this as new business and wanted to charge me £200+ over the renewal price - got angry with them as couldnt understand how they justified! Angry !
Phoned round but most saying no to having the V4 and KTM on one policy as two expensive???
Swinton sorted me by insuring V4 with me no claims and then seperate policy for KTM (with intro 1 years no claims) and worked out cheaper than Carole Nash's renewal price Clap
Think insurers are still confused when you say RSV4 Factory that they putting down as an RSV1000 Factory - be careful as they might not pay out?
Sorry King under that price for both bikes on two policies Embarrassed
Sod it you cant spend it when your dead!!

Having read your responses, it appears that which numpty you get to serve you plays a big part in the quote you get. MCE/Carole Nash told me that they were not getting a response from any of their underwriters. On three occassions, it took about 10mins to get the operator to find/identify the correct bike. God knows what they are punching in.Confused I must have been the only one on this planet who got served by someone who had not heard of Aprilia (let alone RSV4) and Datatool (took 50 mins to fill in the application!!!x#x#x).Angry Where do they find these clowns?

I too am trying to insure two bikes (RSV4 and Tuono). I am now wondering if the problem is with two Group 17s and not the RSV4 at all. Hey but thanks for the tip as E-insurance have also given me a quote now.Clap

I insured with ebike and after finding out from a friend that with e-bike,e-van or e-car insurance that they dont register with dvla or the police i cancelled the policy. Its bad enough having to constanly look in your mirrors,in the hedgerows, gateways,be aware of the possability of every van being a camera van and from above with the eye in the sky without riding past a police car and having them pull you over because on their computer gizmo in the car it tells them though you have all the other relevant requirements to be on the road you dont have insurance as e-bike are the only company not to register their insurance information with the police. My friend is a 50 year old police inspector and had his car insured with e-car insurance and was pulled and given a producer as on thier gizmo in the car that gets all your driving info up it told them he had no insurance as e-insurance as ive said dont register with the police or dvla.Shocked  Try MCE,RSV4 Factory,3 years ncb.riding for 24 years on and off and got it full comp cheaper than anybody on comparison sites by a large margin.Had a quote online from their website and when they rang me as i finished the online quote they gave me a cheaper quote and as i needed to go and get the reg number for him,put me on hold and them came back with a cheaper quote. Cant fault them, give em a try.Big smile

Sorry But,

Have had this conversation with eBike and was forwarded the following and yes it was also in my policy document.

Your policy details will be added to the Motor Insurance Database (MID). The MID is run by the Motor Insurers Information Centre (MIIC). MID data may be used by the DVLA and DVLNI for the purpose of Electronic Vehicle Licensing and by the Police for the purposes of establishing whether a driver's use of the vehicle is likely to be covered by a motor insurance policy and/or for preventing and detecting crime. If you are involved in an accident, the MID maybe used by Insurers, MIIC and the Motor Insurers' Bureau to identify relevant policy information. People pursuing a claim in respect of a road traffic accident may also obtain relevant information held on the MID.

This information is what is used when you renew your Road Tax online and as it has worked for the last 3 years i can see no problem and as eBike was the best price and roadside recovery included I will stay with them.
